While asbestos is now, rightly so, a banned product, it is fine to renovate as long as appropriate safety procedures are followed.
CWC Constructions has expertise in approaching renovations where asbestos is spread across the build in internal and external applications. While asbestos is an unsafe product, it’s insulation properties are rather good, as well as offering protection for the frame work of the dwelling. Therefore often the frame under the board just needs to be straighten out before the insulation and new cladding is applied.
This Beach Street property was a traditional house on stilts that the underneath was later loosely framed up for a garaged. CWC Constructions renovated the single storey house into a two storey home with internal stairs and built a two car garage up the unused south side of the home. The asbestos was removed one level at a time giving the occupants a living space while the renovation was carried out. This house had an unusual feature of a completely surrounding deck on the upper storey which was retained and the original footprint of the home was preserved allowing for a generous yard and garden.
